Non-Fungible Plants

Storing NFTs in Plants (literally)

Let's grow the
first plant-based NFT

Introducing Non-Fungible Plants (NFPs) real plants with NFTs stored in their DNA.

Be part of this groundbreaking experiment, where art and tech meet nature.

Together we’ll grow a new way to store NFTs that isn’t just green, it’s carbon absorbing.

The Growth Plan

Be part of something truly unique by joining our community-funding rounds.
By joining, you’re supporting regen tech, collecting beautiful art
and helping to shape the future.

1. Pre-Seed Round

(Ended Jan 29th 2024)

To get seeds you first need a plant.

Collect digital flowers to grow future seeds and get exclusive access to the Seed Round.

Early Growers and Engagement Gardeners will be rewarded.

2. Seed Round

Coming Soon

It’s literally a Seed Round
.

Generate a unique digital Seed and be included in the first ever Non-Fungible Plant.

Collectors who participate in the Pre-Seed Round will receive priority access and exclusive pricing.

3. Initial Plant Offering (IPO)

Coming Soon

We’ll grow the first physical Non-Fungible Plant

For our IPO, we will take the unique wallet address (or ENS) you used in the Seed Round to create a collective NFT artwork.

This means you and every other participant will be stored in the actual DNA of a plant, creating the first ever Non-Fungible Plant.

You'll literally be a part of history and part of the future as we grow NFP.Garden together.

But, how do you store
NFTs in a plant?

NFPs use DNA data storage technology,
a clean and natural way to archive
digital files in harmony with nature.

We transform digital files (0s and 1s) into
DNA (A, C, T, G) and use synthetic
biology to safely store the data in plants.

You might say we’re storing data nature’s way.

OK, but why are you
storing NFTs in a plant?

Data storage creates tonnes of CO2 ☁️
More CO2 is bad for the Planet 🌍
NFPs store data in the DNA of Plants 🧬
Plants naturally absorb CO2 🌱
So NFPs are a creative experiment 🪴
to inspire a truly green data future 🌳

OK you son of a Birch, I'm In
How can I be part of this?

Forget roadmaps
help to grow a vision

Our vision is vast. Our tech is radical.
The creative possibilities know no bounds.

Yet, it all starts with a single plant.
Who knows what that might grow into?

That’s why we’re focusing on emergence.
We want to grow this with you.

Based on award-
winning research

NFP.Garden is created by Cyrus Clarke and based on R&D by Grow Your Own Cloud (GYOC) a team of creatives, technologists and scientists exploring DNA data storage since 2018.

NFPs are backed by an award-winning vision named a Science Breakthrough of the Year 2022, featured on Netflix and in Wired.

who are committed to helping new ideas flourish.

FAQs

  • Are you actually storing an NFT in the plant’s DNA?

Yes, and you can (literally) be part of this experiment.

We will take all collectors' wallet addresses as a symbol of their web3 (and webtree) identity, and create an artwork that will be stored in the DNA of the first ever NFP. You’ll be part of history.

  • Is storing data in plants really possible?

Yes. Non-Fungible Plants is based on research developed by Grow Your Own Cloud (co-founded by Cyrus Clarke) who created the Data Garden, a project which won Science Breakthrough of the Year 2022 in the art-science category for work on data storage in plant DNA.

  • What happens to the data when the plant dies?

We are creating with the natural processes of life, which leads to numerous possibilities.

Data stored in an NFP might be ephemeral and disappear when the plant dies. However, if we extract and sequence the plants DNA, the encoded data could be stored for millenia.

The data might be replicated when the plant reproduces in the form of seeds. It may even be remixed through cross-pollination or mutations.

One thing we know from our research is that storing digital data (such as precious memories) within plants encourages people to take better care of them, and makes us feel more connected to nature.

  • What are the future plans for NFPs?

Following our Initial Plant Offering (IPO) we’re aiming to start growing NFPs regularly with creators, companies and causes. These will initially be available exclusively to collectors of our Pre-Seed and Seed NFTs.

In the longer-term we hope to make it possible for anyone to encode precious digital data into a plant that might serve as a memory across generations.
